Early on, the Kauffman Foundation initiated its own programs supporting entrepreneurial development and education. More recently, the focus has been on creating partnerships with other non-profit organizations. Partnering organizations are often invited to use the foundation's facilities for meetings and seminars.

The image derives from the foundation's archives. I am interested in the gesture as metaphor. A young person is represented, her face is very soft, almost hidden within the background texture of the mural. The emphasis is on the handclasp.

The gesture suggests connection, help, and care. And there is another handclasp behind the figure to suggest that there are many additional opportunities to create partnership.
